INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM GOALS
Children with learning, emotional, and behavioral problems, regardless of their intellectual ability, often do poorly in school until they have stabilized emotionally and gained the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their lives and make appropriate choices. Pendleton Academies provides an environment that incorporates activities that support a child’s emotional and behavioral treatment goals with classroom instruction. At the same time, emphasis is placed on individualized curriculum so that all academic assignments are geared toward a child's current instructional level and grade-appropriate subject matter.
Pendleton Academies’ education program is built on the following overarching goals:
- Help each child gain the knowledge and academic skills needed to set and achieve personal goals necessary for success in learning and in life.
The building blocks of academic success for children include reading, writing, mathematics, listening, taking direction, cooperating, character development and life / social skills necessary for success in community, school, and family settings.
- Integrate educational programs and activities with treatment to turn character development, personal growth and emotional and behavioral management knowledge and skills into academic success.
Pendleton Academies School provides a safe structured environment that supports a child in dealing with behavioral difficulties; medication management, and academic challenges so that each child succeeds.
- Instill in each child the sense of the enjoyment that comes from learning.
Providing allchildren with experiences that help them understand they can succeed academically is central to Pendleton Academies program. The children are challenged, stimulated, and encouraged to have fun while learning using a wide range of instructional strategies and activities.
