INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION:

We practice a “ Home School” philosophy of teaching the child on an individual basis with a high staff to student ratio maintained at a minimum of 1 to 3. This ensures each child receives a high level of one-on-one attention.

According to a report published by the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) and funded by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education, “home-school student achievement test scores were exceptionally high. The median scores for every subtest at every grade were well above those of public and Catholic school students. On average, home-school students in grades one to four performed one grade level above their age-level public/private school peers on achievement tests. Students who had been home-schooled their entire academic life had higher scholastic achievement test scores than students who had also attended other educational programs."

Treating each child as an individual with different strengths, learning styles, and starting points of individually-tailored instruction can only help advance them in their educational achievement. Pendleton Academies’ curriculum is designed to enhance each child’s learning experience by focusing on his or her own abilities, using as much staff assistance as the child needs to learn and succeed.

Woven in as an integral part of the program are other activities that provide character education, opportunities for social growth, and life skills development. Staff members use a variety of behavior management techniques within a nurturing, self-contained, structured classroom environment where students earn recognition each class period. Education staff members provide written information about each child’s progress each day to his or her treatment/education team and provide a written grade report each month to every student’s family.
